Mar 2021 Report

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 24 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 195 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2018 Round 8
RuleV: 2022

Physical Description: Strong lower half with quick arm. Shows strong athleticism on the mound.

Delivery & Mechanics: Vertical release from a full-windup. Gets down the mound well.

Fastball: 87-89 with strong riding characteristics. Command for the fastball is his best pitch, above average. Shows good feel at the top of the zone. Grade: 55

Curveball: Above average spin characteristics. Pitch has added depth in the last couple years. Needs to show better command for it. Lots of swing and miss potential. Grade: 55

Slider: Slider is a half grade lower than the curveball. Mostly horizontal break. Differentiates itself off the fastball and curveball well. Command still an issue. Grade: 50

Changeup: Still developing feel for the changeup. Command is below average. Lacks depth. Grade: 40

Control and Command: Fastball command is average while the other three pitches struggle to land for strikes at times. Changeup command needs work. Control: 45 | Command: 40

Overall: Murray has a lot going for him in terms of pure stuff. His fastball velocity won't below anyone away, but the spin rates he generates are well, well above average. The heater really explodes and has a track record of playing up at the top of the zone. He's got similarly high-spin breaking balls that he's struggled to command, but have the potential to be above average pitches. If the command buoys closer to average, Murray has the arsenal to remain in a starting rotation.

Aug 2021 Report

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 18 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 195 lbs
Hits/Throws: L-R
Acquired: 2021 CBA
RuleV: 2025

Physical Description: Strong, physical body with much of his strength coming from his lower half. Power hips and core help generate explosion on the field. Rotational strength comes from hips and shoulders and lend well toward his power at the plate. Kinney's body doesn't figure to add athleticism as he gets stronger, instead his development will come by way of adding strength to his already imposing powerful frame.

Hit: Kinney has a well-leveraged swing that generates plenty of bat speed to all fields. He gets the most out of his swing when he's catching the ball out in front where his natural loft can do the most damage. He can get pull-happy at times, and he's generating the most base hits when he's protecting the plate and utilizing his inside-out swing against tough secondaries. Grade: 55

Power: Kinney's power is one of his biggest strengths. He's got enormous rotational raw power, some suggest plus, that he really taps into when going pull-side. Kinney can really torch a ball into the rightfield seats. When Kinney can extend on a ball and keeps his hands inside, the exit velocities produced are among the best you can find for a guy his size. Grade: 50

Field: Kinney is destined for second base where his fringy arm and lateral mobility best fit. He's not going to provide a ton of value on the diamond, instead leaning on his bat to carry the profile. In that way, he's a lot like Mike Moustakas. Grade: 45

Arm: It's a below average arm, maybe fringe average with time. Kinney turns a smooth double play, but he'll have trouble throwing out faster runners when he needs to strafe deep to his right. Grade: 40

Run: Kinney figures to add strength and weight as he gets older. He's already a fringy runner and doesn't possess the body that suggests he'll grow into more speed as he ages. Grade: 40

Overall: Kinney is a bat-first prospect whose value will almost certainly lean heavily on his stick as he moves through the ranks. He's not a liability on the dirt, though he won't provide excess value in those spots either. If everything breaks right for Kinney, his career could embody something like what Mike Moustakas has done in his career.

Aug 2021 Report

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 18 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 185 lbs
Hits/Throws: R-R
Acquired: 2021 Round 1
RuleV: 2025

Physical Description: Tall, broad shouldered infielder with long levers and a high waist. Plenty of bounce in his step. Yet to turn his leverage in the body into leverage at the plate.

Hit: Williams hit down on the ball and has some moving parts pre-swing that has some evaluators skeptical. Uses all fields but gets the most of his pure strength to the pullside. Needs to focus on syncing everything up at the plate to find consistency. Bat to ball skills are significant. Could turn into a solid average hitter. Grade: 55

Power: While Williams has some natural bat speed, his attack angle doesn't lend well to producing power just yet. He's a gap hitter with some pullside juice. Given the strength, projection and levers, Williams could tap into fringe average power as a pro. Grade: 45

Field: Quick-twitch, bouncy actions on the dirt with fast hands and explosivity in his movements. Strong on the diamond in a number of areas. At times lacks fluidity, instead leaning on his natural triggers to get the job done. Should develop well with time into at least an average defender. Good shot of sticking at shortstop. Grade: 50

Arm: Has tons of natural arm talent. Can make any throw from any arm angle. Very good coming in on the ball and strafing to his left. Not quite as smooth going into the hole just yet. Arm strength will play from any spot on the diamond. Comfortably above average, likely plus. Grade: 55

Run: Above average runner now, though he'll likely settle in as an average runner with more weight and development. Long strides, aggression on the basepaths. Not light on his feet, but not lumbering. Squarely average. Grade: 55

Overall: Williams is a twitchy, fiery middle infielder with bounce in his step and tons of projection at the plate. Before being drafted, Williams began tapping into some pullside power and spraying the ball with more authority to all field. He's quick hands and a strong arm, including on the mound, though most believe his future is on the dirt.

Feb 2021 Report

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 23 yr
Height: 6-5
Weight: 240 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/L
Acquired: 2019 Round 4
RuleV: 2022

Physical Description: Long, well-built, sturdy build. Solid upper half, a bit thinner lower half. Tall frame, but has a slight muscular build with broad shoulders and strong legs. Prototypical starting pitcher build with durable physique. Miller will need to utilize his lower half a bit better if he's to get the most out of his large frame and get higher consistent readings on the radar gun.

Delivery & Mechanics: Upper-body heavy with some energy loss in the lower half. Arm action can get long as Miller tends to berak hands late and lacks elbow spiraling. Rhythm and timing in the delivery has been an issue and inconsistent for Miller in the past, though that seems to be cleaning itself up as he's become comfortable in pro ball.

Fastball: Generally a low-90s offering, up to 95. Miller's fastball has above average spin and does possess a good bit of hop as it reaches the plate. Shows a better ability to spot the pitch off the plate as opposed to pitching inside to lefties; more comfortable landing the heater glove-side. Command can waver and velo tends to dip after 60 or so pitches. Grade: 50

Slider: Low 80s breaking ball, up to 85. Gyro-heavy slider with great depth and tunnel off the fastball. Big swing and miss pitch. Devestating when ahead in the count. Hasn't shown the ability to pitch backwards. Slider success may be incumbent on strides taken with fastball command. Easy plus pitch when useable. Grade: 60

Changeup: Mid 80s offering, peaking at 86. Miller does an efficient job killing spin on the changeup and separation off the fastball is good. Has been more effective against lefties into their backfoot. Not a ton of depth on the pitch, but good fading life. Command is fringy, but can be an out-pitch to left-handed hitters. Not as effective in live looks against righties. Grade: 50

Control and Command: Command on the fastball will be the biggest question mark on Miller moving forward. The slider and changeup are both spotted with the propensity expected from secondary offerings, but too often he's found himself falling behind in counts and having to serve up a fastball to good hitters. Control: 45 | Command: 45

Overall: Miller is a very big, very strong left-handed pitcher. The body absolutely looks like it could withstand the rigors of starting at the next level, but he'll need to clean things up to reach that ceiling. Command is the biggest thing holding him back, as well as potentially a couple notches on the radar gun. The slider is a no-doubt swing-and-miss offering, especially playing off his high-spin fastball, but he'll need to show the ability to get ahead more in counts if he's to pitch more than an inning or so at a time.

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 21 yr
Height: 6-0
Weight: 185 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2020 Round 3
RuleV: 2023

Physical Description: Diminutive, lithe, slender righty. Stronger lower half with muscular legs. Long, lanky arms. Close to physically matured. Not a body where added weight would benefit the product.

Delivery & Mechanics: Deceptive, jerky delivery from a high three-quarter arm slot. Moderately-high leg kick. Delivery is arm-heavy. Lacks extension. Head stays remarkably still. Entire operation is a little funky, but not concerning.

Fastball: Low to mid-90s fastball with ride and some arm-side run. Tops out at 97. Ball explodes at the plate thanks to unorthodox delivery and arm-action. Command for the pitch is above average. Grade: 60

Slider: Absolute hammer, wipeout breaking ball. Mid-80s pitch topping out at 87. Shows the ability to spin the ball, topping out close to 2700rpm. Gyro-heavy with fantastic depth and a little horizontal sweep. Late breaker. Commands the pitch well. True out-pitch. Grade: 60

Control and Command: Control/Command has improved over time. Below average in 2019, took a step forward in draft year. Spots fastball well arm-side, struggles more with glove-side. Controls slider well. Can handle high-leverage situations. Control: 45 | Command: 45

Overall: Powell has the makings of a power, two-pitch, high-leverage reliever who can get big outs late in ballgames. The fastball should be a mid-90s offering at the big league level. The slider is already plus, and could conceivably take a step forward with improved command. Definitive bullpen arm. Control and command, as well as unorthodox arm-heavy delivery will be concerns to watch.

Age: 21 yr
Height: 6-4
Weight: 215 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2020 Round 1
RuleV: 2023

Physical Description: Big, tall, strong body. Ideal starter build. Long arms and a high waist. Physical presence. Durability has been a concern in collegiate career, some reasonably minor arm injuries.

Fastball: Good fastball 92-95, touching as high as 97 when healthy and fresh. Holds velocity late into starts. Fastball shape is inconsistent, most consistently showing some arm-side run. High-spin offering with fantastic upside with development. Delivery suggests big potential for four-seam fastball with ride. Must find consistent release. Has shown good aptitude for commanding the pitch. Above average ceiling with plus potential should his effort land him in a bullpen role. Grade: 55

Curveball: Mid-70s with hammer shape and some sweep. Some deception and tunneling action out of arm-slot. Commands the pitch really well. Spots the pitch well at the bottom of the zone. Not afraid to pitch backwards with his breaking ball. Grade: 55

Changeup: Mid-80s offering that currently lacks the shape necessary to forecast as an out-pitch at the next level. Struggles to kill lift. Changeup has solid fading action, but lacks depth. Arm-action/conviction is good, but struggles to kill spin. Lacks separation off the fastball. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Ability to control and command the fastball/curveball combo is very strong, despite effort-heavy delivery. Changeup lags behind primary two pitches. Should be able to throw enough to strikes to remain in a rotation. Control: 55 | Command: 55

Overall: Henry has an ideal starters body and two above-average pitches that are a great foundation toward becoming a big league starter. His ceiling will rely on the development of a third pitch, ideally an offspeed pitch. The fastball will need to develop a shape identity, ideally a riding fastball to couple off his curveball. Durability and effort will be the big question mark. If he can stay healthy and continue his growth as a pitcher, there's backend potential here.

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 22 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 200 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2020 Round 2
RuleV: 2023

Physical Description: Sturdy, strong with well-proportioned whippy arms. Wide shoulder frame with more room to grow in his core. Lower body strength present with plenty of upper body strength in the shoulders. Durability and injury have been massive issues.

Delivery & Mechanics: Violent, whippy arm action. Good extension and follow through on each pitch. Comes to the plate from a low release point and gets the ball out in front. 3/4 arm action. Violence could be a deterrent for future starter capabilities.

Fastball: Fastball has always been good. Generally 93-95, touching at 96. Armside run present. Spots the fastball with consistency in his short college appearances. Grade: 55

Slider: Sharp, tight breaking ball with two-plane, aggressive break. Generally 83 to 86. Wipeout offering that induces a ton of swing-and-miss. Controls the breaking ball arguably better than the fastball. Grade: 60

Changeup: Good arm speed and tumbling action. Generally 85 to 87. Spots low and inside better to righties than he does low-and-away to lefties. Movement profile is good, must improve command. Grade: 55

Control and Command: Fastball control has been good, not great. Slider consistency more often than not tops the heater. The changeup is streaky. Walks haven't been a huge concern, though Ginn hasn't been truly tested over long appearances in his collegiate career. Control: 50 | Command: 50

Overall: Ginn has an outside shot at starting at the big league level, but the durability concerns will need to see a big turnaround. It's not a matter of one injury here. We're talking about three years of fragility. The fastball/slider combination is very good, especially the slider. The changeup will also be key to allowing his arsenal to play twice through a lineup. More than likely, Ginn will slot in as a mid-leverage reliever who gets play in the 8th inning or as an opener for the Mets.

RuleV: On 40-Man Roster

Physical Description: Well-built, burly left-handed pitcher with much of his weight in his lower half. Strong hips and sturdy core. Sloping shoulders.

Delivery & Mechanics: Quick, simply delivery. Arm action can get a little long as he can get upper-body dominant, lacking hip-fire drive. Quad dominant delivery with three-quarter delivery that comes from a wide angle.

Fastball: Some run and sink, relies on his ability to throw secondaries for strikes. Generally 92-94/95. Has shown average command for the pitch. Generates a lot of ground balls. Grade: 55

Slider: 83-86, bread and butter offering. Tunnels extremely well off his fastball and wide horizontal approach angle. Sweep and vertical tilt are both present. Likes to backfoot righties with this pitch quite a bit. Definitive plus offering. Grade: 60

Control and Command: Generally a good strike-thrower. Has run into some issues when he can't find the fastball command. Two-pitch guy who will need his command to stand if he hopes to lock down backend of bullpen role Control: 50 | Command: 45

Overall: Burrows is a two-pitch guy, but both are above average or better. The slider is his best pitch and is a true plus offering. Burrows misses bats with both pitches and doesn't walk a ton of guys. His stuff isn't necessarily electric, so he'll rely on ground balls and getting ahead in counts. He's likely a low-leverage reliever, but there's upside here.

Age: 24 yr
Height: 6-5
Weight: 215 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2018 Draft, Round 20
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Built with an imposing frame with a high waist, long arms and wide shoulders. Plenty of room for 10 or 15 more pounds. Upper body is less developed than his lower body. Has a tendency to get disconnected in his swing, though that is a product of his long levers more than anything.

Hit: Alexander deploys a high-handed setup with weight extremely shifted into his back hip. Drops and drives into his bat path. Narrow setup lead to a long stride. Hand path can also get long as he reaches for power. Lacks back speed currently, though the frame suggests some tinkering could lead to more. Currently a hit over power guy, but needs to find more barrels if he's to impact the ball at the big league level. Grade: 45

Power: Despite his frame and size, Alexander struggles to get leverage at the plate and create exit velocities. There's some loft in his swing, though he tends to catch the ball deeper in the zone rather than extending and optimizing extension in his swing. There's reason to believe more power could come, but as it stands, it's merely building blocks rather than usable power. Grade: 45

Field: There was a time when Alexander appeared an outside shot to stick at shortstop. Those days have since passed. Lacking explosiveness and range, he's definitely a third-basemen long-term now. That said, his lateral mobility for the position is average at worst, and he's shown a soft glove that should be an asset. Alexander can get to most balls, though his arm may be in question Grade: 50

Arm: Arm has always been a bit of a question, and elbow injuries have only exacerbated those concerns. It's a fringy arm that lacks the strength traditionally needed for the position. The routine plays aren't an issue as accuracy has always been just fine. Should the arm be fully healed, Alexander has the chance to develop it into an average offering with time. Grade: 45

Run: Not the greatest runner in the world. He might steal a handful of bases in the earlier part of his career, but given his body and frame, with added weight and power as expected, he may even lose a step. It's fringy now, though in his prime he may end up a slightly below average runner. Grade: 45

Overall: There's a lot to like in the frame of CJ Alexander. He *looks* like a big league ballplayer. Unfortunately, the bat speed and tools on the field fall a little short. Alexander is likely a utility man at the next level, though added strength and a possible swing change could further his upside.

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 24 yr
Height: 6-4
Weight: 210 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2018 Draft, Round 2
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Tall, strong, athletic build with big wrists and strong legs. Jenista is a strength over finesse guy on the field, and it shows in his bat speed and quick hands. Moderately wide setup with generic hand setup. Inordinately long strides that he uses to create torque in his core. Swing can get long.

Hit: Some of the inherent mechanics of Jenista's swing make it difficult for the imposing lefty to create consistent contact. The long stride and moderately high hands make him susceptible to breaking balls and offspeed pitches away. He has shown the ability to really drive mistake pitches though. He's currently a line-drive hitter though most expect loft to come. Grade: 40

Power: There's a little bit of Larry Walker in Jenista's swing. That said, the bat path can get flat at times, destroying his ability to create lift. There's a lot of raw juice in this swing with quick hands and a fast bat, but it's still fairly unrefined. With time and consistent at-bats, Jenista could develop into a solid power threat. Grade: 50

Field: Definitely a corner profile as he lacks the speed to play centerfield. Jenista generally takes good routes to the ball, though his lack of explosiveness can be mistaken for disorientation in the field at times. Hustles to the balls in the corner. Grinder. Gives what he's got. Grade: 50

Arm: Arm is definitely one of his better assets, and it's improving. Long stroke that gets good velocity on the ball. Accuracy has taken major strides since his days on the Cape. Could be a true plus tool. Grade: 60

Run: Pretty fringy runner. Lumbering at times. All-out effort lacking long-strides. Might steal a few effort-bases, but will likely regress into a fringy to below-average runner at the big league level. Grade: 45

Overall: Jenista is a an all-out hustle guy who gives his all on the field. There's a ton of sheer power in all of his movements, though his brute athleticism can get in the way of some tools. His struggles to run and react to advanced pitching come by way of stiff movement patterns on the field. He's likely an up-and-down guy, though the possibility certainly exists he becomes a sought bench bat.

Physical Description: Shorter stature but strong, lean body. Durability has been a concern. Long arms. Slightly open stance, crouched over the plate. Hands start low help to allow leverage and loft into swing.

Hit: Lofty swing helps to allow impact on the baseball. Plenty of swing and miss in the current swing, though he has shown the ability to draw some walks. Currently gap power against good arms, though he's shown the ability to be more. Grade: 40

Power: Shows good power against lesser arms, but struggles to get into his power against tougher arms. Natural loft and leverage in long arms allows for him to impact the baseball, though there are concerns he'll never be able to tap into it consistently. Grade: 40

Field: Average fielder who fits best in a corner. Above average arm and above average speed play well in any situation. Times of focus and attitude have inhibited his ability to reach his defensive ceiling as a leader. Grade: 50

Arm: Good arm that struggles to get on target at times. Has a tendency to overshoot targets. Baseball can tail away from target as well. Plenty of arm strength. Needs refining. Grade: 50

Run: Good runner who's stolen 20 bases in pro ball in a season. Injuries have slowed him down a touch, but athletic body and archetype should allow the speed to come back and at least grade out as average at the next level. Good instincts on the basepaths. Grade: 50

Overall: Thompson-Williams has shown the ability to impact the game, but focus, health and ability to adjust has slowed his development. Raw tools are there to reach big league potential. Will need to stay healthy and adapt to better pitching if he's to play big league ball.

Physical Description: Small and wiry frame, more room for growth and added muscle. Slender build with lanky arms. Lower half looks a bit more filled out than his upper body at the moment.

Delivery & Mechanics: Violent, whippy arm action. Good extension and follow through on each pitch. Comes to the plate from a low release point and gets the ball out in front. 3/4 arm action. Violence could be a deterrent for future starter capabilities. Three-quarter arm slot that includes some deception. Consistent and repeated mechanics majority of the time, though aforementioned violence is a concern.

Fastball: Consistent mid-90s offering with late ride towards the top of the zone. Ball comes out explosive and a bit of late ride forces whiffs. Fastball keeps improving as velocity continues to rise, reportedly reaching 96 mph this summer. Effective, model pitch. Grade: 55

Slider: Breaking ball has slurvy tendencies and good depth. It's 77-80 on most nights and because of the extension and release point, tunnels well with the heater. Command has been an issue. Grade: 45

Changeup: 81-84 with some tumble and plenty of arm-side fade. He spots the pitch well and induced a lot of ground balls because of the separation and break. Grade: 55

Control and Command: Good command for a pitcher of his size and effort, though over extended outings it could become a concern thanks to violent delivery. Good relief profile. Control: 50 | Command: 50

Overall: Brash has an outside shot at starting at the big league level, though that will be incumbent on the development of his breaking ball and improving his delivery and body can hold up over the duration of long outings. As it stands, he projects to be a plus fastball guy with a good supporting off-speed pitch and a get-me-over breaking ball.

Curveball: Very good feel for a curveball at a young age. Lots of depth and keeps armspeed well. Currently a pretty low speed, 72-73 offering. Projects as a possible above average offering as he adds strength and velo. Grade: 50

Changeup: Still gathering feels for changeup, but already exhibits some tumble and fade. Low 80s offering that's particularly effective against righties. Could be his best secondary in due time. Throws with conviction. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Very strong command for a 17-year-old. Projects to be a good starter archetype thanks to natural feel to pitch and pound strikezone. Control: 55 | Command: 50

Overall: Cardozo will be a long-project but his command and current stuff project well for a future starter. Likely will end up in the 6-2, 195 pound range with a mid 90s fastball and good secondary offerings, both of which have flashed at least average. Adding strength is the biggest priority right now.

Height: 6-0
Weight: 220 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/L
Acquired: 2018 Draft - 14th Round, WSH
RuleV: On 40-man

Physical Description: Strong and sturdy lefty on the mound. Physical presence with a good build to his frame. Thick lower half with strong glutes. Wide shoulders. Good amount of muscle packed to his frame.

Fastball: Generally a low 90s offering that's flashing into the mid 90s on occasion. Fastball is inconsistent with run, sink, and ride depending on release. Seemingly can't throw a straight fastball if he tried. Deception allows the pitch to sneak up on hitters. Command has been an issue. Grade: 50

Slider: Another offering with deception. Probably his best pitch. Plenty of late break. Pretty devastating, especially in on righties. Reverse splits. Grade: 50

Slurve: Low-80s with inconsistent movement profile and release point. Must focus on developing pitch as another offering against lefties. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Generally not great control, really emphasized in short appearances in 2020. Projects an average command pitcher when fully settled. Control: 45 | Command: 45

Overall: Fletcher has been an absolutely shutdown reliever at every level and his reverse splits suggest he has a long future at the big league level. Fastball consistency, as well as command across the board will need to improve if he hopes his deception and average stuff will succeed long-term.

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 23 yr
Height: 5-10
Weight: 205 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2016 Draft - Round 2
RuleV: Eligible

Physical Description: Compact and sturdy, Rizzo carries the frame of a catcher with a barrel chest, big hands, and strong forearms. His stout frame has appeared filled out since high school, but he is still converting more weight into lean muscle each year. The concern, though, is that continuing to pack on muscle may result in further loss of flexibility and agility (which Rizzo can't afford to lose if he wants to stick anywhere but first base).

Hit: Rizzo's loudest tool is the short, left handed stroke that carries his profile. His swing has undergone adjustments over the last two years, eliminating and then adding a stride, closing and opening the stance, lowering and then raising his hands, all in an attempt to locate that balance of contact and power that would allow him to reach his second round ceiling. While the swing has fluctuated and continues to undergo adjustments (another swing change in 2020 will debut in ‘21) Rizzo has never truly lost his above average bat-to-ball skills owed to his quick wrists, strong forearms, and excellent hand-eye-coordination. He has a solid idea of the strike zone which puts him in favorable counts and allows him to spray low line drives across the diamond. Grade: 50

Power: Despite his positional profile and several swing adjustments, Rizzo has never shown above average, or even average, pop as a pro. His compact swing is built for contact and low line drives. Thus far, blasting balls over the fence with regularity has remained unchecked on Rizzo's wish list. He did reach double digit home runs in ‘19 and will shoot the gaps, but his exit velocities don't scream "untapped, corner infield power." Rumor has it Rizzo has added significant muscle in the offseason and adjusted his bat path once more, but we have yet to see if that will unlock the necessary loft and velocity to profile for corner power without sacrificing his ability to make contact. Grade: 40

Field: Rizzo's defense has been in question since the day he was drafted, lacking the natural athleticism and range for the middle of the diamond and without the frame to profile for third. As a pro he's received looks at third, first, and second, but his best position is still lining up on the left side of the plate. He has soft, quick hands, smooth transfers, and has improved at third the last two years, handling in-between hops and charging balls with more confidence. But his limited range, slow footwork, and average athleticism indicate he will never be an above average defender. There's not much upside to uncover defensively, and Rizzo will likely profile as a defensively below average infield utility player, average at first, or fringe average in the hot corner. Grade: 45

Arm: Short arm motion from a 3/4 slot, Rizzo doesn't have a cannon but he can make all the routine throws from third. He gets good carry and has improved his accuracy through improved footwork. It's an arm that could play in left with some adjustments, but current motions are ideal for infield. Grade: 50

Run: Rizzo is an instinctual runner, but a below average one (and not a pretty one). Choppy, top-heavy, and high effort, Rizzo lacks natural burst to beat out grounders or steal bases. He has great instincts on the bases and avoids mistakes but is teetering on being slapped with the "lumbering" label. Grade: 40

Overall: Joe Rizzo is lost in the shuffle of Seattle's big name prospects and is sliding precariously down the defensive spectrum while his bat has yet to deliver above average production--a damning prognosis. But Rizzo is still only 22, has shown the ability to make adjustments, and has the drive and work ethic to transform his profile in an offseason. There's a chance Rizzo unlocks nascent power while retaining his feel to hit through one crucial swing change. The issue, though, is that Rizzo is now relying on a big step forward to save him from dropping fully off the organization's radar. This year will be critical for Rizzo to prove that he can carve out space for himself on a major league diamond.

Age: 19 yr
Height: 6-0
Weight: 215 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2019 IFA
RuleV: 2024

Physical Description: Big, broad body with sloping shoulders and strong, thick lower half. Thicker neck and hips suggests corner profile and regressive speed as he ages. Big forearms. Strong player.

Hit: Slightly open, crouched stance with low head and slightly slouched over eyes. Well-leveraged swing starts with weight heavy on backfoot. Attacks pitches high with confidence. Has struggled with breaking balls at his back foot. Goes well the other way with pitches on the outside corner. Advanced approach for young player. Grade: 45

Power: Frame suggests power profile in his future, but lacks impact currently. Big body generates raw swing speed. Inconsistent bat path inhibits ability to consistently get to raw tools. Should develop well as he ages. Potential for 20+ homerun power. Grade: 50

Field: Current athleticism allows the body to handle 3B, though there are concerns he'll grow/age out of the role. May end up in LF or 1B. Already a fringy runner. Soft hands and big arm allow inefficiencies to play down. Ability to stay in shape will dictate future on dirt. Grade: 40

Arm: Big arm. Can make all the throws and clock big velos across infield dirt. Accurate and reliable. Can play in any outfield spot too. Grade: 60

Run: Already a fringy runner, may regress depending on weight added. A little sluggish out of the box. Likely never a base stealing threat. As has been said, physique will dictate future tool. Grade: 40

Overall: Milkar Perez will need the bat to carry him into his big league ceiling. The arm is clearly a carrying tool in the field, though it's impact may be negated if it can't play due to big body. A bit of a project. Several years out.

RuleV: 2024

Physical Description: Tall, physical right-hander. Physical presence with a good build to his frame, barrel chested. Strong and sturdy upper body with long legs. Long legs with powerful quads. Shows some aggression on the mound.

Delivery & Mechanics: Traditional windup, glove-over-head motion. Arm action is long and can get late at times. Good scap load and extension down mound suggest velo should pop and hold. Some wild limbs add a little deception.

Fastball: Low 90s fastball has touched 94. Good run in on righties. Command has come into question, though some of that attributed to inconsistent mechanics. Body and arm speed project more coming. Could be 93-95 in due time. Grade: 50

Curveball: Another average breaking ball that displays more consistent shape than the slider. Good arm speed and conviction. Command wavers. Not a high velo offering. Average for now. Grade: 50

Slider: Inconsistent command but promising movement profile with good depth, lacks horizontal tilt. Gyro-centric offering. Pitch should be an average offering with improved command. Grade: 50

Changeup: Fringy offering. Throws for strikes, but movement profile is inconsistent and doesn't yet command the pitch in on righties. Could be a get-me-over pitch against righties Grade: 45

Control and Command: Control hasn't been a huge issue in the past, though command has. Fastball and breaking balls have shown they can be thrown for strikes, but spotting them for out pitches remains a struggle. Control: 45 | Command: 45

Overall: A definitive starters' build with four pitches, Castetta-Stubbs has plenty of development in front of him to develop into the rotation option he could be.

RuleV: 2024

Physical Description: Strong, compact, live-wire build. Stronger lower half. Explosive athleticism in the box; quick twitch actions at the plate. Gritty and a bit of a baseball rat. Can help the team win in a number of ways, including hustle.

Hit: Slightly open, crouched stance with medium-high hands. Covers the plate very well and has a little natural loft in his swing, especially when he goes down and gets balls low and inside. Strong wrists and barrel control allows him to spray the ball all over the field. Has yet to show strikeout tendencies, but hasn't walked a ton. Grade: 50

Power: Smaller frame inhibits the ability to truly charge the ball. Muscled frame and natural loft does help put some impact into the ball. Some hip-shoulder separation in a hyper-athletic frame imposes some more pop. Could hit double-digit home runs. Grade: 45

Field: Above average fielder in centerfield. A little less reliable at second base, but lateral mobility and athleticism may allow him to play a solid average infield. Arm will always limit his ability to impact the game at both positions, but has the makings of a strong utility cog. Grade: 50

Arm: Not a good arm. At second base, it's on target and reliable. In centerfield, it won't be an asset that holds baserunners. Loopy at times from centerfield. Second base arm. Grade: 40

Run: Above average runner that should be able to take some bases thanks to good instincts and experience. Short strides in the outfield limit top speed capability, though he can get to a lot of balls in gaps. Usable tool on the bases. Grade: 55

Overall: Polcovich comes across as the type of player who may get more out of his tools than most expect. He's a spark plug type player that could play in a couple different positions on the field in a utility role. Won't be a huge asset on defense, but may provide some value in a number of ways on offense.

Physical Description: Big, burly-bodied corner infielder with very large lower half and big, strong upper body. Barrel-chested with present strength. Not overweight by any means, but physicality and body will be something to watch as he ages. Body doesn't diminish athleticism entirely.

Hit: A little bit of swing and miss in an uppercut swing, through strike zone discipline is not much of a concern. It's power over hit right now. Consistent contact on pitches in the zone. His exit velocities should translate into extra base hits. Projects a high-walk, high power output Grade: 45

Power: Definitive power prospect that will sink or swim by his ability to impact the baseball. Generates big pull-side power and gap power with high exit velocities. Uppercut swing generates a lot of fly balls that carry due to raw strength. Could project a 30 home run player if the hit tool allows it. Grade: 60

Field: Body and lateral mobility will dictate future position. Has good hands and the ability to handle third base. If he slows down, Keenan may be forced to first base or designated hitter. Arm is average and should play fine at third base, but it's doubtful he'll be a defensive asset at any stage. Grade: 40

Arm: Good arm action and mechanics though arm strength is not an asset. Arm accuracy has been consistent. Transition out of glove is quick and steady. Average arm ability. Grade: 50

Run: Not a strong runner. Heavy-footed. Lumbering. Not in play on the basepaths. Below average. Grade: 30

Overall: Keenan will simply sink or swim based on how he can impact a baseball. He'll need to hit for power to reach his big league regular ceiling. He may be able to stick at third base, though he won't be a defensive asset in that regard. Better suited for first base in an org that values defense.

Age: 24 yr
Height: 6-4
Weight: 215 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2018 Draft - Round 8
RuleV: On 40-man

Physical Description: Strong, sturdy pitcher with most of his strength/mass coming from his lower half. Sloping shoulders with strength in upper body though lacking definition.

Delivery & Mechanics: Unorthodox, short-arm action that includes a ton of deception. Very herky jerky. Tempo will be very important keeping his lower half and shoulder in in tandem. Potential for extra perceived velocity thanks to release slot and mechanics.

Fastball: 93-96/t98 with signs of armside run and sink. Too often the fastball is too straight and hittable. Needs to focus on arm-side run in delivery. Fastball is straight and finds a barrels at 93-94. At it's best the fastball is 95-96/98 with late movement and deception. Grade: 55

Slider: 83-86 with late, tight break. Can sometimes meld into a cutter with some vertical break. Young pitcher who's still finding feels for optimized breaking ball. At it's best, slider has aggressive horizontal approach angle with late sweep and depth. Can get straight and broadcast at times. Grade: 55

Control and Command: Tempo is the biggest thing in his delivery. When he's right, the stuff is overpowering and has shown late-inning, high leverage ability. At worst, the control fades and walks and barrels become an issue. Fastball has shown better control than breaking stuff. Control: 50 | Command: 50

Overall: At his best, Gerber has shown the ability to work in a fringe-high leverage role with dynamic velocity and break on his slider. The deception is a nice luxury in keeping hitters off-balance and late, but he'll need to focus on creating life on the fastball and consistency in the slider.
