Physical Description: Lean frame that currently lacks upper body strength. Small wrists. Has some room to fill out. Average athlete. Plays with a smile on his face.
Hit: Upright and open stance from both sides. Moderate leg kick. Keeps his weight back and closes as he steps into the pitch. Hands stay out in front but they're lower from the left side. Rotates his hips well to generate some leverage. It's an easy, repeatable stroke. Average or slightly better bat speed. Currently makes better contact from the right side. Shows an ability to go up the middle. Grade: 45
Power: Below-average raw power but there's reason to believe he can grow into more if he adds some strength. Some natural lift off the bat. Grade: 40
Field: Moves well to his left and right. Flashes good instincts and covers enough ground on the left side of the infield. Above-average range. Gets to the ball and makes the routine plays. Quick hands. Grade: 50
Arm: Average arm and accuracy. Not a lot of carry. Short-hopped several balls to 1B from SS in looks while he was deep in the hole. Quick transfer and release. Arm may play better at 2B. Grade: 50
Run: Above-average straight line speed; timed 4.18 down the line from the left side. Runs with some effort. Grade: 55
Overall: Pastrano offers an intriguing frame and a set of tools that are right around average. He's young and raw and fits in with Cleveland's collection of lower level middle infielders. The lack of a standout tool may hold him back from being anything more than a below-average player.
