Jan 2021 Report

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 18 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 184 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2018 IFA
RuleV: 2022

Physical Description: Solid height and build for early stages of development. Well rounded upper half with broad shoulders. Strong lower half with overall lean frame. More projection for growth and added muscle.

Hit: Long and open right-handed hit tool. Hands stay just below the letters with noticeable rhythm and sway. Feet stay and lower half stay wide to the plate, open and exposed. Heavy left leg kick. Aggressive approach and heavy swing. Reliant on his back foot. Needs to improve plate discipline and mechanics. Closing his stance could benefit his future hit tool. Grade: 40

Power: Projectible pull-side power from the right side. Physical strength produces hard exit velocities. Gets good leverage and bat speed. Added strength will give his power a boost. Shows promising in-game power as he matures physically. Grade: 50

Field: Fringe-average fielder with an iffy defensive fit. Bounced between second and third. Size and lack of athleticism projects to third base. Struggles covering ground consistently. Lacks awareness on routine plays. Can improve defensively once he sticks to a position. Grade: 45

Arm: Above-average arm strength highlights his defensive skill set. Quick glove-to-hand transfers. Throws come out quick with good velocity. Arm strength truly shines at third base, makes difficult throws from awkward angles. Grade: 55

Run: Below-average speed and athleticism. Lack of athletic traits hinders his defensive potential. Lacks burst and acceleration to reach top-end speed. Long and slow strides coming out of the box. Grade: 35

Overall: Parra possesses tantalizing size and power for a teenage prospect, but improvements in his mechanics and approach will help his offensive profile. His lack of speed puts a cap on his defensive fit, but his strong arm suits him well at third base. If Parra continues to improve his hit tool, he can transform into one of the promising offensive players in Milwaukee's system.
