Physical Description: Has an average build. Listed at 6'1, 200, but height may be a bit generous. Looks a bit like a wrestler, with a thick neck and sloped shoulders leaving little room for added upper-body mass. He's a solid athlete who is compact and muscular throughout, with strong thighs and calves.
Hit: Hits from an average base while keeping back leg relaxed and front leg extended and slightly open. Uses a small small leg lift for timing. Keeps hands at shoulder level and then pulls them down and back to load. Takes quick, level hacks through the zone that are more geared for line-drives than fly balls. Goes with pitches, using the whole field and producing plenty of hard contact to the gaps. He has a solid eye at the plate and handles velocity well, but he can occasionally get caught lunging at breaking balls low in the zone. Grade: 55
Power: Has above-average raw power to the pull field, but swing plane leads to more gap power than over-the-fence pop. May top out around 15-17 home runs, but could hit 30-40 doubles annually. Grade: 45
Field: Has played all three outfield positions. Projects as below-average in center but shows the adequate range and solid reads to be average in the corners. His average arm makes him playable in right field, but he likely fits best in left field at the Major League level. Grade: 50
Arm: Average arm. Pitched briefly as a freshman but topped out in the upper 80s. Outfield throws show decent carry and accuracy, but his arm is not likely to be a weapon. Grade: 50
Run: Above-average to plus straight-line speed that plays to average in games because he's somewhat stiff as a runner and lacks the agility to change directions quickly. He does like to run though, and could steal double-digit bases if given the green light. Grade: 50
Overall: Daniel Cabrera's long track-record and strong mechanics give him a good chance to be an above-average hitter at the MLB level. He'll need to get close to his ceiling as a hitter because the rest of his tools are fringe-average to average. He has a decent chance to be an everyday corner outfielder, with a future as the strong side of a 4th OF platoon equally as likely.
