Physical Description: Tall, large frame; sturdy; built like a power forward. Long limbs, high waist with long, tree-trunk legs. Massive feet that take up over half the rubber; moves surprisingly well for his size; limited physical projection remaining with minimal strength gains to be had.
Delivery & Mechanics: Throws from a high 3/4 arm-slot from his 6'6" frame with max effort and slight head whack; some herk-and-jerk after hand break and extension generated from his long legs yield some deception. Pitches exclusively from the stretch; balanced upon leg kick with arm action that goes straight down to straight up; lots of moving parts. Quick arm.
Fastball: Sits 93-95 mph t97 with riding life up in the zone; modest arm side run. Average fastball that will flash above-average; will miss up in the zone. Continued pro instruction and cleaning up mechanics may help it reach plus velocity consistently, but command will cause it to play down a tick to above-average. Grade: 55
Slider: Primary secondary offering; 83-87 mph with inconsistent desired velocity; will throw for called strikes ahead in the count as well as down in the zone late in counts for swings and misses. Good bite in the zone; flashes above-average but sits average. Grade: 50
Changeup: 87-89 mph; maintains arm speed well but not enough separation between fastball to yield swings and misses. Straight change lacks deception; no fading or darting action. Will throw for strikes but pitch is not thrown with conviction. Grade: 40
Control and Command: Does a decent job of throwing strikes but will miss the mitt with all three pitches. Shows more comfort with the slider than the fastball at times. Head whack and moving parts in delivery will hurt command; might be able to fix the deficiency with continued pro instruction. Control: 45 | Command: 40
Overall: Profile screams reliever; mammoth presence on the mound with a bulldog mentality. Quieting down the delivery may help with command but deception should make him a candidate for middle relief. One inning stints maximum would be best considering stuff and effort level.
