Overall: Acosta was the centerpiece of the Padres 2020 international class, signing for just under $2 million. The Dominican teenager is known for his defensive skills, flashing good hands, feet and arm strength at the most important position on the infield. The switch-hitter will stick at short but has some inconsistencies on offense. His strongest offensive skill is his ability to put the bat on the ball, and should grow into some power as he ages.
