Evaluator: Justin Lada

Age: 18 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 168 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/L
Acquired: 2019 IFA
RuleV: 2024

Physical Description: Tall, lanky build. Very projectable frame. Already appears to have a strong base and forearms.

Hit: Hits from an even stance with a wide base. Moderately active hands into pre-load to bring barrel slightly vertical. Wait high leg kick into his load but doesn't over stride. Keeps front shoulder and front side closed with good separation from his hips and hands. Bat path is direct into the zone. Fluid swing and generates above average bat speed. Quick hands. Grade: 40

Power: Above average bat speed, loose, fluid swing and projectable frame should allow him to carry above average raw power. Bat path comes in flat so an adjustment may be needed to create more loft in his swing to get to above average power in games. Posts strong exit velos (90.5 average/104.5 max). Grade: 55

Field: No initial looks in the field. Given projection in frame, most think it's likely he grows into a corner outfield spot as a fielder. Grade: 45

Arm: Long arm action but stays behind the ball on throws. Does not get exceptionally strong carry on throws. May gain a tick with added a strength as he matures physically. Grade: 50

Run: No initial looks running but like the fielding projection, his long legs and frame give him the appearance that he will be an average runner, but may lose a tick as he fills out. Grade: 45

Overall: Medina's tools give him the profile of a bat-first corner outfield with above average raw power. His projectable frame combined with raw set of tools make him a prospect that could flash star abilities in several areas of his game, though this profile has a long, high risk developmental path. His tools and projection give him an all-star ceiling but a flameout floor.
