Physical Description: Average height. Lean frame, but no remaining physical projection. Aggressive player with a genuine passion for the game.

Hit: Balanced pre-pitch; stands slightly open and crouched. Keeps his left elbow high and back. Moderate leg kick as he steps into the pitch. Wide base at impact. Linear swing that produces linedrive contact primarily to right field when he barrels the ball. Easy and repeatable swing with average or better bat speed. Shows above-average barrel control and an advanced hit over power approach at the plate. Focuses on putting the ball in play. Difficult to strike out and fights off a lot of pitches. Shows a good eye on pitches out of the zone. Does not walk often, primarily because of his bat-to-ball skills. Can be aggressive; swings at most pitches in the zone. Creates more groundouts than fly outs. Can get beat on velocity up. Has the speed to beat out ground balls to the left side. Shows a feel for bunting. Grade: 50

Power: Shows below-average raw power. Does not create much leverage or loft off the bat. Approach is designed to make contact; mostly ground ball hitter. Grade: 30

Field: Gets solid reads and has plus range in CF, primarily because of his foot speed. Willing to lay out for balls. Shows good enough actions to stick in CF, but the whole profile also plays in a corner outfield spot. Grade: 55

Arm: Plus arm with significant carry from the grass. Throws were on target and on a rope in looks. Profiles in any outfield position. Grade: 60

Run: Timed 4.03 down the line from the left side. Hustles out of the box and can hit an extra gear. Has plus-plus speed, but the tool plays down on the basepaths. Aggressive in trying to take an extra base on balls to the grass, which both aids in his doubles and triples and hinders his putouts. Has the speed to be a threat on the basepaths, but his initial burst lags behind his top-end speed, and he gets caught too often when trying to steal. Grade: 70

Overall: Barrera has some notable tools, including his arm and speed, but the overall package translates as a high-likelihood backup in the outfield. While he does have above-average bat-to-ball skills, he lacks the power most teams covet. He can be overly-aggressive in all facets of the game.
