Physical Description: Athletic, lanky frame that shows maximum level of projection. Broad shoulders with long levers that have plenty of room to add mass. Has started to fill out significantly since signed in 2018.
Hit: Right handed hitter who starts with his feet even in a shoulder width base. Upright stance. Hands sit high with the barrel sitting on his shoulder until he begins a moderate leg kick trigger. Hands stay active throughout the swing and his front half will flash open early on occasion. Bat path is surprisingly short for his frame, and finishes long through the ball. Bat speed is slightly above average with some projection remaining as he fills out. Can pick up offspeed well and currently works an all fields contact approach, with flashes of impacting the ball for power. There will be a solid discrepancy in present and future hit grades as we see how his hands will work against high level velocity as he gets into A ball and above. Grade: 50
Power: An all fields approach combined with a still wiry frame hinder the current power profile. Will show some flashes of plus raw power pull side in BP, but not enough information to say that will translate into game power. Bat path and overall frame will be conducive to more power in the future, but hands will need to get a bit more quiet to tap into it. Grade: 45
Field: High level athleticism. Shows plus range moving in both directions with quick feet and advanced positioning. His length allows him to get in front or reach most balls in the hole. Hands are very soft and lightning quick when attacking the ball, and showed impressive actions on glove to hand transfer on film. Bends extremely well for his size and his flexibility on pivots stand out. Ideal body and actions to be a plus glove at SS long term. Grade: 60
Arm: Big time carry across the diamond. Shows ability to get strong throws from multiple arm angles with accuracy. Can easily make throws on the run and rarely needs to leave his feet to make a play. Likely to add more arm strength as he continues to fill out. Grade: 60
Run: Very limited looks at his foot speed. 7.00 runner in the 60. Will get a good first step out of the box but doesn't possess great food speed. Long legs and stride will help the overall grade, but it's not something that's likely to improve as he matures. Grade: 45
Overall: Special abilities in the middle infield. Glove has a chance to skyrocket Garcia through the lower levels of the minors. Batted ball profile is likely to stick as a contact/gap power type of power, with an outside hope he can grow into some raw strength as he grows into his uber-projectable frame. Fringe everyday profile with the all around skills to meet a high end utility floor.
