Nov 2020 Report
Evaluator: Joe Doyle
Age: 18 yr
Height: 6-0
Weight: 160 lbs
Hits/Throws: B/R
Acquired: 2019 IFA
RuleV: 2024
Physical Description: Lean infielder with sneaky strength in hands and wider shoulders for his frame. More strength and impact is coming. Strong lower half and thicker hips suggest impact strength is coming.
Hit: Switch-hitter with more bat speed from the right side. Strong, closed-bodied stance with opposite field approach. Plenty of coil and quick hands at the plate. Already an impressive offensive-player. Plenty of impact to the gaps from both the left and right side of the plate. Can be a little aggressive especially against advanced breaking pitches. Handles the low pitches better than most his age, in part due to a steep VBA. Promising hit tool. Grade: 50
Power: More power from the right side thanks to bigger bat speed and more leveraged approach. Lift-oriented swing from the right side, with more limited power pull side from the left side. May end up right-handed full-time. Approach, again, limits impact, especially from the right side. Plenty of raw power in the body here. Grade: 45
Field: Good, not great defender with fluid actions to his left and right. Hands are a bit inconsistent and footwork needs time to develop and clean up. Game has a tendency to speed up on player. Grade: 45
Arm: Plenty of arm strength, though accuracy has come into question at shortstop. May end up at second or third base long term if player can't slow the game down. Arm could also play in a corner. Grade: 55
Run: Good runner with athletic stride. Body suggests his current solid-average grade may fall into the more average range. More strength and body to come. Could be a base stealer at the next level thanks to good burst. Grade: 50
Overall: Amador is a guy to watch over the next few years as his body catches up to his already impressive offensive tools. He probably levels out closer to 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, in which case the offensive impact could be substantial. There's questions where he'll end up on the diamond, though the bat will carry his value regardless.
