Physical Description: Prototype of a power right-hander. Good size and overall build on the mound. Sound upper half with broad shoulders. Long, bulky arms and sturdy lower half. Uses his physical traits within delivery. Little room for added size and muscle.
Mechanics: Extended 3/4 slot delivery with solid extension. Arm action is quick and thrown with some effort. Lots of movement within delivery. High right leg kick and sweeping motion from the windup. Looks more comfortable from the stretch. Struggles with command and consistency.
Fastball: Low-to-mid 90s fastball with solid arm-side run. Sits 91-92 and touches 94. Shows signs of late movement and spin, but lacks consistency. Gets a good amount of swing-and-miss against RHB. Grade: 55
Curveball: Low-70s offering that is raw in development. Mixes well with his slider, but has some 12-6 downward break. Lacks consistent depth and movement as a third pitch. Grade: 40
Slider: Low-to-mid 80s slider that shows signs of promise. Lacks eye-opening movement. Has shown improved break and spin, but needs more consistency for more effectiveness. Gets some swing-and-miss for strikeouts. Grade: 45
Control and Command: High-effort delivery that raises concerns about his command. Has enticing raw stuff, but lacks ability to throw strikes consistently. Leaves his fastball and slider up in the zone, gets barreled for homers. Needs to improve command in all facets. Control: 40 | Command: 30
Overall: Linginfelter has the size and raw stuff to maximize his potential, but his delivery and struggles with command held him back at Tennessee. He showed the ability to miss bats in 2019, but needs to improve in the Angels' minor league system.
