Physical Description: Tall, lean, high waisted, long levers, broad shoulders. Room to add some projection but not much. Major League ready body.

Delivery & Mechanics: Slight side-step to start mechanics, longer arm action, moderate leg lift and contraction, gets downhill and over frontside at release. Higher three-quarters arm action with lower release point. Falls off to first base side, struggles to repeat as he is often off balance at release. Leaks out early and will lose his release point and miss with his fastball.

Fastball: Sits 91-94 mph, touching 95-96 mph at peak, good velocity from a sub-six foot release point but an underwhelming movement profile. Lacks vertical and horizontal break, making it a truly straight fastball. He locates it more consistently in the upper quadrants than the lower and commands the pitch far better to his armside than gloveside. It's a pitch that worked versus collegiate and lower level hitters due to his velocity, but is less likely to fool the more advanced hitters of the upper levels. Mixes in a two-seam variation in a similar velocity band, but it's not that different from the four-seamer metrically or aesthetically. Grade: 40

Curveball: Variation of his slider with more vertical drop (-4 inches), with less velocity (77 mph avg) than his sweeper. Used against lefthanders, but will often bleed into his slider shape. Part of his repertoire and sequencing, but a clear step behind his other secondaries. Poor quality breaking ball, lacking the vertical drop to be effective as a swing and miss hammer. Grade: 30

Slider: Sweeper in the low-80s, average velocity of slightly above 81 mph with average spin rates in the 2500 rpm region. Minimal vertical movement with nearly a foot of sweeping break. Higher efficiency pitch, can miss bats, but is primarily a driver of weak contact, a fair amount that falls into the ground ball category. He'll deploy the pitch mostly against righthanders as it breaks away from the barrel. Prefering to utilize his changeup and curveball -- which is really a slider variation -- versus lefthanders. Below average command and fringe average control of the pitch, as with much of Feltner's arsenal he experiences bouts of losing complete control. Grade: 50

Changeup: Shows feel for the off-speed, supination profile, tilt slightly clockwise from his fastball. Inconsistent shape and infrequent use, but it is part of his plan of attack versus left handed batters. It lacks horizontal movement but he does a good job of killing lift and he sells the pitch with his arm speed. Good separation from fastball with an average velocity of 83-84 mph. His best swing and miss pitch. Despite some good elements it's still a third pitch he can lose feel for. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Borderline fringe-average control that doesn't consistently hold for large stretches. Feltner's lack of control and subsequent command leads to innings of hemorrhaging hard contact, balls, and runs. Feltner can be cruising and suddenly fall apart. His inability to repeat and his off balance follow through lead to strike throwing issues. The rub is he can go through the order once and look immaculate, locating his fastball to both sides of the plate and dashing sweepers across the plate. Then he loses any semblance of the zone. Control: 40 | Command: 30

Overall: There's enough here for a relief profile as a fringe major league pen guy, likely settles in as a high end up and down role type. His combination of fastball velocity, a changeup that can generate swings and misses when needed, and a sweepy ground ball inducing slider give him a starter's look, but his poor command is a non-starter for that role long term. Feltner likely profiles best as multi-inning reliever or long man at this point, but substantial growth with his control and command will be needed.
