Physical Description: Thin but athletic build with long levers and high waist. Quintessential projection frame with wide shoulders and lean build.

Hit: Open stance with hands under the chin; torso is upright with a shoulder-width base. Long load with moderate leg kick followed by deep hand load. Feels disjointed and looks like it may sap some power. Above-average bat speed with fairly linear bat path. Limited game looks, but shows some feel to hit and feel for the zone; will swing and miss in the zone, but may be exaggerated by long load. Flat bat path will keep the barrel in the zone. Good patience and will work a walk. Sprays the ball to all fields; gap to gap, line drive hitter. May need to iron out kinks in load, but has the makings of an average hitter. Grade: 50

Power: Good frame and above-average bat speed should help him grow into average or potentially above-average raw power, but bat path and approach will keep him from getting to all of it in games. More gap to gap power than over the fence; good speed will help him tack on extra bases. Grade: 40

Field: Speed gives him requisite range for center. Reads and routes appear average in limited looks. Shouldn't have any trouble sticking in center. Grade: 50

Arm: Above-average arm strength with accurate throws in limited looks. Plenty of strength for center and enough for right should he ever need to move to a corner. Good speed helps him get into position to make throws. Grade: 55

Run: 6.57 60. Slightly slow starter, but very good top speed underway. Moves well; speed will be an asset to his game in the field and on the basepaths. Definite stolen base threat with potential for growth as he refines his reads. Grade: 60

Overall: McCray is an athletic outfielder with feel to hit despite a disjointed swing. Power looks limited at present, but has potential to make a big jump with added strength and a little more loft in the swing. His plus speed will be an asset to his game, padding his skills on both sides of the ball. While a little raw at present, McCray has enough tools to grow into an average regular and already outperformed expectations in rookie ball. He's likely a second-division regular and the tools give him a role player floor.
