Physical Description: Average height. Maxed. Thick quads. Bulldog mentality.
Mechanics: Minimal windup. Short, over-the-top arm action. Max effort delivery has been toned down some since signing. More repeatable in pro ball. Falls off toward 1B with a tendency to land violently. Hides the ball well. Quick to the plate.
Fastball: 93-95. Fastball-dominant repertoire. Pitch has some tail. Likes to elevate it but can move it around the zone. Too frequently misses when running it away from righties and the pitch can sail on him when running it up. Generates swings and misses up in the zone when he's locating it, and it plays slightly above its velocity due to his ability to hide the ball. Grade: 55
Curveball: Infrequently throws a 1/7 breaker that shows a good amount of depth. Likes to use it down-and-in to lefties, but I've seen him backdoor it, too. Runs it away from righties. Grade: 45
Changeup: 78-79. Same release point of fastball with a slightly slower arm action. Looks like FB out of hand. Locates it down, usually after just throwing his FB down. Has some fade and arm-side run. Best utilized down and away from lefties. Has average potential. Grade: 45
Control and Command: Keeps his pitches consistently around the zone. Violent arm action makes it difficult to hit his spots with his fastball. Misses up and outside. Locates better when he takes something off of it. Control: 45 | Command: 40
Overall: White has generated a high strikeout rate at every stop in his career despite mostly average stuff. He has close-to-average control and does a pretty good job at minimizing contact, but he's going to have to prove it at every level. There's middle-relief potential here, but he'll likely need a jump in velocity to exceed that projection, and I've got him as an up/down type until he proves otherwise.
