Physical Description: Listed at 5'6, 160. Andrews is as small as any player in professional baseball. Short with a really narrow frame. No physical projection.
Delivery & Mechanics: Has an exaggerated lean on his drive leg, but maintains impeccable balance throughout his delivery. Stays online to the plate and repeats his delivery and arm slot consistently. Low 3/4 slot. Plus-plus on-mound athlete.
Fastball: Flat, 87-90 MPH fastball. Occasional cut when located glove-side but it doesn't have the velocity or life to miss bats or barrels. Grade: 40
Slider: Mid-70's breaking ball. Has slurvy action but flashes bat-missing depth at times. Grade: 50
Changeup: Leans on changeup heavily. Mid-70's offering with consistently plus sink and some arm-side fade. Mimics fastball arm speed and gets whiffs from opposing right-handed hitters. Grade: 55
Control and Command: Throws all three pitches for strikes. Works to both sides of the plate. Lack of velocity and fastball life keeps him from being able to go up in the zone. Control: 60 | Command: 50
Overall: Andrews is an interesting gadget prospect who tests the lower bound for reliever velocity. His high-80's fastball lacks life and gets knocked around when he uses it in the strike zone. Andrews mitigates that by leaning heavily on his secondaries (especially his plus change) and working east-west, which his elite athleticism allows. A two-way player in college, Andrews still occasionally gets an opportunity to hit in pro ball. His minimalist offensive approach allows him to make a ton of soft, ground-ball contact but without a modicum of impact. A plus-plus runner, Andrews might sometimes serve as a late game defensive replacement in the outfield, but his primary role is on the mound. He could have a niche as a lefty bullpen complement to a series of high-powered arms.
