Physical Description: Tall, slender, athletic build. Shows big flexibility and athleticism on the mound. Long legs and long levers present future projection still outstanding.
Delivery & Mechanics: Big, high leg kick with over-the-top delivery. Smooth, fluid action lacks much violence. Starter attributes suggest further extended innings in his future at the next level.
Fastball: Flores is a 90-92 guy in most of his appearances, though at one point he was bumping 6s and 7s. His velocity has regressed a bit in recent years, lowering the floor a bit on his future role. A little bit of ride but plenty of cutting action make his fastball difficult to barrel up at the top of the zone. Grade: 50
Curveball: Loopy, but commanded well. Probably not an out pitch as it lacks velocity and conviction. Not a power breaking ball. More of a get-me-over early-count offering. Grade: 45
Slider: Slider too often melts into what his fastball has become. It's a low-80s offering that lacks sweep, instead relying on depth. Can get flat when Flores gets under the pitch. Fringy. Grade: 45
Changeup: Low 80s pitch with good fading action and impressive conviction. Long levers help with deception out of the hand. Has shown command for the pitch. Grade: 55
Control and Command: Command has been an asset for Flores since the velo has dipped. Will need to remain strong if he's to remain a starter at the big league level. Control: 50 | Command: 45
Overall: Flores doesn't have the stuff to project as a leverageable reliever at the next level. Will need to need to continue to get the most out of his stuff to stick as a starter long-term. Fastball/changeup combo are best offering while breaking balls offer a different look, but lack "out" qualities.
