Physical Description: Looks bigger than listed weight. Strong, well built. Wide shoulders. Well-developed upper body with strength. Strong legs. Lacks flexibility and explosiveness. Still some room to add strength with continued development.
Hit: Slight open stance, hands high at the head. Upright upper body, slight bend in knees with feet a little wider than shoulder width. Minimal hand load with decent size leg kick timing mechanism. Average bat speed on a slight uppercut bat path. Above-average bat to ball skills, tough with two strikes. Line drive hitter. Pull-side approach, lacks ability to hit pitches hard on outer half of the plate. Aggressive hitter with well below-average discipline, leads to excessive amount of weak contact. Has shown slight discipline improvement, needs to continue. Doesn't recognize spin well, chases pitches. Bat to ball skills help make up for lack of discipline, but overall hit profile is still limited until approach improves. Grade: 40
Power: Above-average raw power, game power plays below average due to excessive amount of weak contact. Power mostly gap to gap, but shows some pull-side HR ability. Lacks loft to consistently put ball over the fence. Added strength and improved loft could lead to more power down the line. Grade: 40
Field: Sure handed defender who catches everything he gets to. Moves well both ways, but below-average jumps and speed limit range. Stiff body movements, lacks fluidity throughout fielding motion and running. Struggles catching GBs cleanly occasionally. Lacks range to make highlight reel play, but manages most routine ones. Fringy defender, possibly average with continued development. Grade: 45
Arm: Above-average arm with fringy mechanics. Short arm action. Lacks follow through and doesn't get body into throws. Still manages ideal carry. Around target frequently. Has shown ability to throw out runners. Grade: 55
Run: Average out of the box, but lacks burst and acceleration. Some stiffness in lower body, labors to run. Not a stolen base threat, but knows how to run bases. Below-average speed limits range, but still playable in OF. Grade: 40
Overall: Fabian lacks a stand out tool, but shows some decent attributes. With the bat, he has above-average bat to ball skills that make him a tough out with two strikes. While that helps him make a lot of contact, his approach still could improve. He struggles with spin and chases a fair amount which leads to frequent weak contact. Will he does show some pull-side power, although most of his power is gap to gap currently. If he is going to want to hit for more power, he'll need to continue to improve the loft in his swing. Fabian is a below-average runner who labors and has stiffness going down the line. It limits his ability to steal bags and impacts his ability to cover ground in the outfield as well. Although he lacks fluidity throughout the fielding movement, he still catches what he gets to and manages to make the routine play. His arm plays above-average with the ability to throw out runners, although his mechanics could improve. Fabian, overall, looks like an up/down player who could possibly develop into a below-average player with some improvements both offensively and defensively.
