Physical Description: Above-average height with a good frame. Has some present strength, with room to grow, although he's 23 years old and simply may not.
Hit: Stands slightly open and mostly upright with his knees bent. Hands stay just below his shoulder with the bat resting there until he loads. Weight is evenly distributed prior to the load; he brings his weight to his back foot and raises his hands and the bat high before using a small leg kick to step into the pitch. There's some noise in the load, and his swing can get long at times. He swings on a pretty level plane, but he lacks barrel control and often gets on top of the ball, too frequently drilling the ball into ground on the left side. He shows a solid eye on pitches out of the zone and can lay off difficult breaking balls, but he does swing through too many pitches in the zone. Between his propensity to hit weak ground balls and his consistent poor strikeout rates, the tool plays well below-average. Grade: 30
Power: Flashes average to above-average raw power, and he has taken balls the opposite way, but his game power plays below-average, largely due to his inability to consistently barrel the ball. He has at least average bat speed, and there's some rotation in his swing, so he might be able to tap into a bit more of his raw power if he can make consistent contact. Grade: 40
Field: Listed as a 3B, but he's spent most of his time at 2B in 2021. He shows a solid glove at 3B. He stays low and keeps the ball in front of him and charges the ball with authority. It's average range, although he moves pretty well side-to-side. The package plays up some at 2B, where he shows some comfortability with covering the bag and turning the double play. Makes the routine plays. He unsurprisingly has some familiarity with 2B, SS, 3B, and LF. Grade: 50
Arm: Above-average arm that works on the left side of the infield but plays up some at 2B. Above-average or better arm strength with solid carry across the infield. Throws from several arm angles, including sidearm. Accurate in limited looks at both 2B and 3B. Grade: 55
Run: He's an average runner, and I had him timed 4.26 down the line from the right side in a game earlier this season. Grade: 50
Overall: Gregorio has his moments and will periodically flash some intriguing tools on the diamond, but his continued lack of impact with the bat has him trending like an org. guy. There's perhaps some untapped power potential, but it won't matter if he can't make consistent contact.
