Physical Description: Average height, thin, long arms and legs, high waisted, good athlete. Plenty of projection remaining and he should be able to add strength without becoming bulky.
Delivery & Mechanics: Semi-windup; long hook arm action, low 3/4 arm slot, fast arm, with extremely low release height. High leg lift; drop and drive delivery, repeats well.
Fastball: Sat 91-94 mph pre-draft was up to 97 mph during instructional league. Good movement and command to all four quadrants. Uncomfortable look for hitters due to his low release and low slot from the left side. It's the type of fastball that disappears on hitters, with some natural cutting action that allows it to tunnel with his slurvy breaking ball. Generates lots of swings and misses in the upper-quadrants. Above-average pitch that very likely ends up plus at peak. Grade: 55
Slider: Sweepy slider in the 77-79 mph range pre-draft. Another pitch that plays up due to his low lefty slot. Likes to land it armside sneaking back foot and back door when he gets around it. Wasn't used heavily as an amateur but was his go to secondary. Average pitch with above-average ceiling. Grade: 50
Changeup: Below average pitch, low-80s offering with inconsistent shape. Little to no feel at this point. Definitely an area for development in the future. Grade: 40
Control and Command: Strike thrower that's heavily fastball dominant in terms of sequencing. He commands his fastball well to all parts of the zone. Will overthrow it at times but his release point is fairly consistent leading to lots of strike throwing. Slider command is average will shows flashes of feel on both side of the plate. Lacks feel or command of a changeup with limited the overall grade. Control: 50 | Command: 45
Overall: Exciting arm with the possibility of developing two plus pitches. At present he has an above-average fastball and a slider that's consistently average with flashes of plus. There's no third pitch at present but there's still time to develop changeup feel or add another variation. A talented lefty that's already added velocity and muscle as a professional.
