Physical Description: Athletic frame; Long limbs, high waist. Lean, borderline skinny. Shoulders a little wider than average. Very projectable frame. Room for 15-20 pounds of good weight. Longs longer than listed 6'0. Live, athletic body. Confident at the plate and on the field. Can be bothered by bad calls.

Hit: Upright stance with wide base, square, sits into the rear leg with moderate bend. Hands are eye-high at the back shoulder; solid rocking motion both in the hands and with the body. Low, quick leg lift used for trigger, drops in the same place -- more of an exaggerated step than a kick. Above-average bat speed. Flatter bat path. Comfortable in the box, patient with great feel for the zone; battles with two strikes. Doesn't expand often. Happy to wait on his pitch and take a walk. Line drive approach, looks to go the other way and doesn't lift the ball with regularity. Able to shoot the ball the other way with authority. Beaten by velo up in the zone right now, but has the bat speed and athleticism to handle it with an adjustment. Doesn't always square up balls he should drive and inside outs the ball often. Some swing and miss in the zone, but not much. Bunting needs work, looks inexperienced. Good hitter overall who finds ways to impact the ball solidly all over the zone despite some trouble with elevated velo. Works walks frequently, waits on a pitch he likes and swings to do damage, but usually goes to the opposite field gap. Excellent leadoff candidate. Grade: 50

Power: Live, quick twitch body produces above average bat speed. Raw power is average currently, but there's a chance he could get to above-average if he adds good weight - building blocks are there. Flat swing plane and opposite-field line drive approach really limit game power. More of a gap to gap, doubles and triples hitter right now despite having enough power to go over the fence pull side. Legs are an asset and will help him stretch anything not hit at a fielder into extra bases. There's significant room for growth here if he learns to pull the ball in the air with consistency, but definitely below-average unless that happens. Grade: 40

Field: Very good range to his left and right, good lateral agility; great instincts, smooth actions and transfers. Soft hands that make all but the toughest plays and even makes those on occasion. Good awareness on the field, anticipates well and gets to the right spot; gets into good position to throw. Makes a highlight reel play more games than not. Hustler. Looks like a natural middle infielder; no question he can stick at short. Grade: 60

Arm: Strong, firm delivery when set. On target often when set and from awkward body positions while on the move; can throw from all angles. Fringy carry from deep short when throwing off his back leg. Has touch when he needs it. Plenty of arm for the left side of the infield and accurate enough to make the most of it. Grade: 55

Run: 4.03, 4.09, 4.06, 4.13 H-1st; Good runner, moves well, gets up to speed quickly; long legs cover lots of ground. Legs out infield hits with regularity. Aggressive runner who looks to take the extra base when he sees an opening. Stolen base threat; gets solid jumps and has a success rate near 90% in his pro career. A true asset on the basepaths. Grade: 60

Overall: Twitchy, athletic shortstop with a major league glove and hit tool. Defense and ability to get on base will carry the profile and approach will determine how much of the ceiling he gets to. Currently a slasher who shoots line drives into the opposite field gap, but has enough pop to do damage pull-side if he tries to do so. Excellent leadoff candidate. Floor is a utility player and if everything comes together he's likely an occasional All Star.
