Physical Description: Tall, loose frame. Long limbs with wiry strength. Still room to add more muscle without sacrificing already great athleticism and flexibility.
Delivery & Mechanics: Starts in the middle of the rubber out of both the wind-up and stretch. Utilizes long levers well keeping his front shoulder closed, loading his scaps, creating separation, and generating armspeed. High effort, over the top delivery and drives down the mound slightly towards the 3B line creating some cross-fire action. Shows good mobility, creating above average extension relative to height. Needs to clean up lower half weight transfer and lead-leg block but athleticism is evident in movements.
Fastball: True 4-seam that sits 92-95. Can reach back for 97 in short stints. Good vertical movement with a very flat VAA. Has good spin efficiency and a favorable axis to play at the top of the zone. Plus whiff potential. Good feel for elevating and will live there with the FB. Velo does range on occasion when starting so fixing mechanical issues could see him stay at the upper end of his capabilities. Grade: 60
Curveball: Low-80s with decent depth and a touch of glove-side break. Not a ton of movement in a vacuum though good spin efficiency and axis tunnels with fastball nicely. Can reduce depth to show more of a slider shape. Good feel keeping the CB down and working off the high FB. Fringe average offering currently but capable of playing up. Grade: 45
Changeup: Mid-80s with good fade. Below average feel locating, often struggling with release and missing arm-side, though movement is solid and tunnels well with the FB. Primarily only throws it to LHHs, and even then it's somewhat rare. Could be an average or better offering with improved command. Grade: 45
Control and Command: Has above average ability to spot the FB and CB; below average feel with the CH. Can repeatedly pound the FB up above barrels which is impressive given mechanical deficiencies. Too FB heavy at times and can become predictable in sequencing, though it's definitely his best pitch. Control: 50 | Command: 45
Overall: Frasso is a top tier athlete who has tons of development left to go before becoming a finished project. He has clear areas to clean up mechanically, as well as room to continue building his body and arm strength. After spending time both starting and closing in college, there are multiple routes the Blue Jays could go with him. There are plenty of question marks going forward, but Frasso provides an intriguing mold to work with.
