Game Logged Date: 5/20/19
Teams: Corpus Christi Hooks versus Amarillo Sod Poodles
Pitcher Name: Carlos Sanabria, RHP Corpus Christi
Game Note: Threw two innings of relief in 7th and 8th.
Game Line: 2 IP, 3 H 0 BB, 0 ER, 4 K
Pitch Mix: Fastball, Curveball, Changeup, Slider
Pitch One: Fastball
Velo: sitting 95-96 from full delivery touches 97. Drops down to 93-94 touching 95 from stretch.
Movement: Fastball runs armside, some break harder than others, will flatten out and sit middle-in to RHB. Dominates LHB with FB+SL
Pitch Grade: 50/60
Pitch Two: Slider
Velo: 82-84 mph
Movement: Tight slide with vertical drop popular in the Houston system. Runs armside with slight two plane break. Swing and miss pitch.
Pitch Grade: 40/50
Pitch Three: Changeup
Velo: sat 86-87, a few firmer at 88
Movement: late fade and armside run when it has its best shape, inconsistent will flatten out at times and is easy to track.
Pitch Grade: 40/45
Pitch Four: curveball
Velo: 81-82 mph, used mostly versus RHH
Movement: Slower and looper than slider, but comes from a similar release point, similar armside tail late, giving it 11-5 break out of unusual for a right-hander.
Pitch Grade: 30/40
Mechanics: Tall high waisted athletic frame, windup with a big step out before getting into his motion. He has a slight globe raise to his abdomen before lurching forward with a violent short armed motion. His motion is stripped down from the stretch and does lose some command from it.
Big Picture: The command will come and go, but it’s the kind of profile that can play in a high leverage relief role. His loopy slider and hard armside fastball both generate lots of swings and misses.
Command: 40/50
Overall Grade: 40/45
