Introduction
Our Top 100 prospect list is finally here! This is a culmination of efforts forged by over 20 different individuals here at Prospects Live. We began our offseason report writing in early October with the aim to grade out and rank 900 different prospects to be included across our top 30 team lists. At time of release we’re about halfway home in publishing our team lists, but we’ve powered through reports from our future releases to put together a comprehensive Top 100.
Throughout our off-season evaluation process we lost two key members on our team to big new gigs: Original co-founder Geoff Pontes to a full-time job at Baseball America, and our Scouting Director Joe Drake to the Baltimore Orioles as a scouting consultant. You’ll see some of their reports sprinkled throughout the Top 100. We want to thank them again for their immeasurable contributions to the site and our evaluating team over their tenure with Prospects Live.
Process
Let’s proceed to our Top 100 process. Matt Thompson, Jake Kerns, Rhys White, Brandon Smith and Joe Drake (before he earned his new position) all submitted individual lists and they were combined together. While each had their preferences, their lists were significantly impacted by the opinions stemming from the reports written by our entire team. We also sought input across our full team of contributors for adjustments to the final product. This really makes our Top 100 a true site-list, hopefully devoid of bias that could creep in from any single evaluator.
A major consistency you’ll see is that we’ve got the same ranking within major league organizations. For example, the Orioles have 8 players in the Top 100 and those 8 players are ordered the same as you see in our released Orioles Top 30 list. There are two exceptions and both are due to pitcher injury updates post-team list release. Matt Allan was ranked 3rd on the Mets team list but ranks 5th here at the news of having an additional surgery to repair a nerve issue in January. Sixto Sanchez ranked 5th on the Marlins team list and would have made the Top 100, but reports of setbacks from shoulder surgery have pushed him off completely.
Lastly, you might see that our rankings do not fully align within OFP bands. A few 55 OFP players are ahead of some 60, and 50 OFP in front of 55. This is partially due to differing list opinions and partially due to the risk associated with players further away from debuting the big leagues. In our eyes, the value associated with making an impact at the big league level can outweigh that of the projected big league role for those early in their professional career.

Full Reports On Patreon
In July of last year, we launched a Patreon with the primary content being fantasy baseball related. Our Patreon not only keeps the lights on here, but allows us to pay our scouts for attending games, our fantasy contributors to make the most informed dynasty lists in the industry, our MLB Draft team to provide incredible content, and expansion of our site content to cover topics like mental health, college analytics and baseball card news.
This off-season we set off to create a book that included all of our reports, team lists and some articles. Changes and challenges arose, so we pivoted to releasing our team lists and reports through the site and our Patreon. We’ve been releasing the team top 10 ranks with full reports of the top 5 to the site while putting the full rankings and reports on each top 30 over on Patreon at the 55-tier ($5 level).
We are continuing this with our Top 100 reports. Further on in this post, you’ll find the top 100 rankings, but for scouting reports, you’ll have to head over to Patreon and subscribe at the 55-tier ($5 level). The 100 reports will be in a PDF of our un-released book format and you’ll have access to our previously released top 30 team lists & reports. During the season we provide the 55-tier with MiLB daily notes where we cover standout performances from the previous day’s slate of games. We offer a lot more, and we really suggest you check it out.
