The college baseball season is right around the corner, and Prospects Live is here with your Top 25 for 2024. Last year, LSU came in at #1 with a stacked team that included outfielder Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes. With the loss of Skenes, Crews, Ty Floyd, and others, the LSU team is still stacked, but they will have some fierce competition.
Wake Forest takes over the helm as the number-one seed for Prospects Live. The weekend rotation highlighted by Chase Burns, Josh Hartle, and Michael Massey are going to make it tough for Wake Baseball to lose a weekend series. On top of that, the bullpen is loaded even without Cole Roland with the likes of Maryland transfer David Falco, Jr., Joshua Gunther, and others. The Demon Deacons lineup isn’t to be overlooked either. Nick Kurtz and incoming transfer Seaver King are among our top 10 college MLB draft prospects. Marek Houston, Chris Katz, and others should lengthen this lineup.
As we said earlier, LSU may have lost Crews and Skenes, but they are a very close number two to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Alabama transfer Luke Holman should slot right into that weekend rotation with Thatcher Hurd and Gage Jump. They’ve also got a ton of depth with the likes of Griffin Herring, Cameron Johnson, and many others. On the offensive side, they will be a force with Tommy White being an anchor in that lineup. The likes of Paxton Kling and Jake Brown should help LSU be a top contender to possibly knock off the Demon Deacons at some point during the year.
A team I am really high on, thanks to Noah Darling in our college baseball preview episode, is TCU. Payton Tolle was recently named the Friday starter for the Horned Frogs and he brings some sneaky potential to find his way into the Golden Spikes conversation given how good he is on both sides of the ball. Along with that, TCU has one of the better shortstops in the country Anthony Silva. TCU has a powerhouse coaching staff in Kirk Saarloos, TJ Bruce, and Dave Lawn so look for them to bring out the most in this stacked squad.
It should be a very exciting season of college baseball and I know all of us on the MLB Draft Team at Prospects Live are ready to be back out on the fields bringing you all tons of live looks. Stay tuned for continuous MLB Draft and college baseball content throughout the season!
