When we launched Prospects Live in September 2018, we had one driving goal: become a household name in prospect analysis.
We wanted to get to a point where we had national coverage of minor league baseball, delivering smart analysis in a way that was easy to comprehend whether you were a baseball die hard or someone new to the sport.
Since our inception, we’ve evolved. A lot.
We added video to our offering and now spearhead a YouTube channel with over 8,500 subscribers, one of the biggest in the space. It houses hundreds of videos ranging from live looks, interviews, shows and more, many of which are used by ESPN and MLB Network on a yearly basis.
We added fantasy content. Top prospect lists, sleeper articles, strategy articles. A whole new standalone fantasy format (The Dynasty Bestball Championship) that’s the largest dynasty competition around.
We created an MLB Draft team that’s become legitimately one of the best in the space. We’re happy to pit our team against anyone else when it comes to pound for pound value and analysis.
We launched several podcasts. Our ever popular Dynasty podcast, MLB Draft podcasts, offseason org podcasts, interview podcasts and spin off content when the moment calls for it.
We’ve iterated offseason board reports to the point where we went from small, surface-level blurbs on 30 players per team to full blown scouting reports on over 1,000 players.
We launched an evaluation team that now has eyes all across the country ready to update you at a moment’s notice when something catches our eye.
We even launched a merch store!
Like we said, we’ve evolved a lot.
The next step is Patreon.
For 2 1/2 years we’ve offered all the above for…free. I think you know what you’re about to read. Our team continues growing and grinding harder than people who do this for a full-time job. We’ve gotten to a point where we can confidently look back at what we’ve offered and say we’re one of the best at what we do. But the time has come to find a constant revenue source to maintain our upwards trajectory.
For a long time we’ve had fans tell us we need to launch something so they can support us. We wanted to wait until the right moment and offer the right thing.
So we’ve decided to launch a Patreon focused around dynasty baseball content. Why dynasty baseball? When it comes down to it, you’ll go to whatever lengths necessary to get the edge over your league mates. You want to beat them to the punch on prospects. You want to get your trades analyzed by the experts to make sure you’re coming out on top. You’ll take the steps to ensure you’re flying the championship flag at the end of the season.
So we’re offering a selection of tiers where you can select what fits best for you to give you the edge. As we launch this, there are some things you’re used to that will be going behind a Patreon subscription. For example, the MiLB Daily Sheet and Prospects Live Dynasty podcast will now be behind the $5 tier. We have other offerings, ranging from early access to our dynasty lists all the way to a one-on-one live session with you multiple times a year.
How are we going to use the revenue? We’re going to support our contributors and scouts. Whether it’s hiring new evaluators, helping offset travel costs to big events, new gear or rewarding great work, it’s time we took our support of our team to the next level.
Right now, there are still plenty of things that will remain free. Of course our YouTube channel isn’t going anywhere. Our MLB Draft content will stay where it is. Our live looks reports will stay free, as will our features, mock drafts and other written work revolving around traditional baseball. We will release the first 100 players from our dynasty lists but intend to keep the full 500 behind Patreon.
If we’ve helped you at any point in the last 2 1/2 years, whether it’d be keen fantasy advice, given you eyes on a prospect via YouTube, helped you see a new viewpoint on a player via our board reports or something else, please consider supporting. If you want, there is even a $2/month subscription tier that’s the equivalent of a virtual tip jar.
This is the next step for Prospects Live. As we continue our march to become a household name, we hope you’ll support our journey getting there.
