With the Aguilas Cibaenas and Tigres del Licey canceled due to rain, Los Toros and the Leones del Escogido was the only game going on yesterday as they played a day/night doubleheader.
The Leones would strike first with a solo shot by Seattle Mariners prospect Luis Liberate.
Los Toros were down most of the game until the 7th inning when former Rangers outfielder Engel Beltré hit a double, scoring former Marlins infielder/outfielder Jordany Valdespin to tie the game at 1.
Then in the 8th, after Tampa Bay Rays’ prospect Vidal Brujan reached on a fielder’s choice, former Brave Peter O’Brien would get his second hit of the game, a two-run home run to left to give the Toros the lead.
That’s all the Toros would need as they won the first game 3-2 in extra innings. Yankees starter Domingo German went five innings, allowing just one home run and three hits.
In the night game, Brujan went 2-for-3 as Los Toros won in a 2-0 shutout. The bullpen for the Los Toros held the Leones to just one hit in the second game.
