When it comes to dynasty fantasy baseball leagues, there are very few (read: no) positions quite as loaded top-to-bottom as Outfield. The pure depth of talent available at the ‘ole ‘OF’ has inspired us – if you ever need a reminder, remember AGGPO!
"All good players play Outfield". (See, it’s funny because that isn’t necessarily true, yet you achieve comedy by making such a generalized statement!)
Jokes (mostly) aside, though – it makes sense. Leagues commonly play with three and even up to five or six OF-eligible positions to fill, and with three and sometimes four outfielders getting regular work for thirty major league teams, there’s more than enough to go around.
You don’t just want ‘enough,’ though, do you? Of course not. You’re a winner. Winners need the best possible outfielders – fortunately, we’ve got them ranked—all 400,000 of them. You’re welcome, baby.
Taylor, anything you want to add here?
Thanks, Drew; you covered it well. Outfield is a deep position with a ton of category flexibility. Need an elite five-category superstar at a discount? There’s an OF (or three) for that. Need a speed and batting average specialist? There’s an OF for that. Do you need a strong side platoon masher for a deep daily moves league? There’s an OF for that. Between the elite names in the first round and the deep sleepers without a role, the outfield pool provides a little of everything.
Top 200 Dynasty Outfielders
1. Juan Soto, New York Mets, Age: 26 (Overall dynasty rank #2)
2024: 713 PA 288/419/569 128 R 41 HR 109 RBI 7 SB 18.1 BB 16.7 K
It’s worth noting that these dynasty positional rankings are for OBP leagues, and when it comes to OBP, none do it better than Juan Soto. Since breaking into the majors in 2018, no qualified hitter has a higher OBP than Soto, whose .421 mark is 10 points higher than Mike Trout’s second-best mark. In those seven seasons, Soto has yet to post an OBP under .400. Remarkably still just 26 years old, Soto is just entering his prime, and we may not have seen his best yet even after he posted career highs in home runs and runs in 2024. The power may take a bit of a step back with the move across town, but Soto is one of the most consistently dominant four-category contributors in the player pool. The one downside is the lack of stolen bases, so keep that in mind when building out your roster.
2. Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves, Age: 27 (#4)
2024: 222 PA 250/351/365 38 R 4 HR 15 RBI 16 SB 12.2 BB 23.9 K
Acuna is a difficult player to evaluate heading into 2025. On talent alone, he belongs at the top of this list. A year removed from the first 40HR/70SB season in MLB history, Acuna is a true stud across every offensive fantasy category. Unfortunately, the one thing he hasn’t excelled in is staying healthy. Last season, Acuna tore his ACL for the second time in three years and will likely miss at least the first month of the 2025 season. After major surgeries to both knees, it's fair to question how much Acuna will run upon his return, and we’ve already seen that it can take some time for the power to come back post-surgery based on Acuna’s first surgery. However, Acuna is one year removed from being the top dynasty asset, and this may represent a one-time-only buy-low discount for those brave enough to trade for him.
2024: 684 PA 231/322/428 121 R 22 HR 74 RBI 35 SB 10.7 BB 19.0 K
Yet another buy-low candidate, Carroll, was being selected back-to-back with Rodiguez at the top of dynasty drafts last season and has seen his stock fall in 2025 due mainly to a similarly brutal first half. Like Rodriguez, he also salvaged it with a dominant second half. A July 6th, 2023 shoulder injury has been speculated on as the main culprit, as Carroll’s power was eerily sapped for an entire calendar year. Between July 7th, 2023, and July 6th, 2024, Carroll hit just nine home runs in 160 regular season games. However, he regained his power thereafter and hit 21 home runs in the final 71 games. Now presumably fully healthy, Carroll looks poised to bounce back in a big way this season. Buy the discount where you can.
4. Julio Rodriguez, Seattle Mariners, Age: 24 (#8)
2024: 613 PA 273/325/409 68 R 20 HR 76 RBI 24 SB 6.2 BB 25.4 K
Speaking of buy-low discounts, Rodriguez is one of his own despite just turning 24 in December and coming off three straight 20/20 seasons to begin his career. A consensus top 3 dynasty startup pick a year ago, he’s now likely to be selected outside the top 10 in many drafts. There’s no question that 2024 was a down year for J-Rod, particularly in the power department, but his .914 OPS from July 4th on shows that he’s the same bat he’s always been. The main culprit appears to be his struggles to pull the ball, but that also returned in the second half of the season. Detractors will point to a history of slow starts, but if anything, this indicates that Rodriguez has another step to take. A mid-season ankle injury led to decreased steals, so that number should also tick back. Last season was likely Rodriguez’s floor, and the ceiling is still sky-high. You want to build your dynasty teams around this kind of young five-category stud.
5. Jackson Chourio, Milwaukee Brewers, Age: 20 (#9)
2024: 573 PA 275/327/464 80 R 21 HR 79 RBI 22 SB 6.8 BB 21.1 K
In a year that featured many disappointing debuts for top hitter prospects, Chourio bucked the trend to solidify himself as a fantasy superstar. It wasn’t a clean path with a brutal start to the season, but Chourio made the necessary adjustments, and from June 2nd on, he slashed .305/.360/.527 despite not being old enough to drink alcohol legally. A 30/30 season as soon as 2025 is in the cards, but be patient. His ability to overcome adversity in the majors makes a sophomore slump less likely, but it's still possible. Either way, he’s one of the best young dynasty assets and should continue to get even better.
