Rhys and Smada return for the last Daily Sheet before MiLB Opening Day. They've been walking around serving appetizers, but soon you'll all be called to your tables to enjoy the feast. Only a handful of MLB games to cover in this one while AAA had double headers and multiple on-the-cusp starters.
We've received a couple notes recently and we wanted to mention that not every player will be covered at the same depth on the Daily Sheet each day. Often players are profiled multiple days in a row and we'd like to avoid repeating analysis. If you'd like the full scope of coverage on a player, search their name on the site and click the tag to see all the Daily Sheets where they've been covered. We'll also do our best to point you to more detailed analysis where applicable.

Major League Baseball
Covered by Smada
Not going to lie, I’ve covered MLB on every one of the Daily Sheets this week and the short slate of games was a nice respite. Can’t wait to see the sheet in all its glory covering every level tomorrow!
Kristian Campbell, 2B BOS (MLB)
2-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI
Campbell’s second HR of the year was a pulled shot off Charlie Morton. Feels like I’m talking about Campbell every day at this point. I posted a poll on Twitter asking whether you’d rather have Kristian Campbell or Wyatt Langford in dynasty. The results were closer than I thought they’d be with Campbell receiving 28% of the vote. Campbell has already put up a 112.2 mph Max EV, essentially equal to Langford, which tracks given similar Bat Speed. While plate discipline & contact metrics have yet to stabilize, Campbell is showing very positive chase rates, and decent Whiff rates in line with Langford’s 2024 numbers. While Langford may be a step faster, the stolen bases could net out similarly over a full season. Positionally, Campbell has 2B and is likely to add OF for dual eligibility at some point. While I still favor Langford, the difference between the two is a lot closer than it appears on the surface. Keep that in mind when you’re getting offers thrown at you for him.
Hunter Brown, RHP HOU (MLB)
6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 8 K
We’re nearly a calendar year since Brown gave up 11 hits and 9 runs in two-thirds of an inning. That was right in the middle of a 5 start stretch where he gave up 25 ER. Since 5/1/24, Brown has 26 starts of a 2.55 ERA and 3.17 FIP. Oh, and he’s increased his velo in the early going…
Ben Rice, 1B NYY (MLB)
1-for-3, 2B, 2 R, 2 BB, K, SB
Love to see Rice filling in at 1B on an off-day for Paul Goldschmidt. He led off for the second straight game. The hit was a ground rule double to straight away center that would have been out in 7 parks. A total of 5 barrels over 19 PA is a great start to the season.
Aaron Judge, DH NYY (MLB)
3-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 R, 4 RBI
Only 135 HR pace? Come on Judge, we expect more.
Triple-A
Covered by Rhys White
Oh yay, double-headers. All teams should play in a dome to start the season.
Bubba Chandler, RHP PIT (Triple-A) (Game 1 of Doubleheader)
2.2 IP, H, 3 BB, 4 K
On the bright side, he got 50% of his outs by the strikeout. His fastball looked sharp in this one, and he got four whiffs. I find it interesting that Chandler was only given 52 pitches, but he did have a long inning, so maybe it’s better to get him out of there. This is all to say that Chandler maybe wasn’t ready for big league camp, despite internal conversations about him breaking camp with the Pirates. The changeup and curveball lag behind a touch, and this gives me some pause and makes me wonder if the Pirates should actually slow play Bubba Chandler.
Owen Caissie, RF CHC (Triple-A) (Game 2 of Doubleheader)
3-for-4, 3B, R, RBI
You love to see Owen Caissie hitting well. I am very confused about where he will play for the Cubs this season. The Cub's outfield and infield are pretty loaded, and it’s not easy to see where Caissie comes up unless an injury arises. Which is not fun to hope for. Caissie does have some pretty serious power; if he ever got an entire season of run, he could hit 25-28 homers with the upside for more if you get a favorable year with the wind in Wrigley.
Cade Horton, RHP CHC (Triple-A) (Game 2 of Doubleheader)
3.1 IP, H, 4 BB, 6 K
What is up with all the pitchers walking everyone these days? Cade Horton looked great outside of all the free passes in this one. He collected eight whiffs off the fastball alone in this one. If not for an injury last year, Horton might have already graduated by now. Horton is a safe mid-rotation starter with a chance for slightly more if it all comes together. He has a simple pitch mix, and the fastball and slider are good. He’s not the ace the Cubs need, but he lengthens the already good rotation.
