In the Midwest, Hollis Porter and Alex Calarco led an offensive explosion, while UCLA’s Mulivai Levu piled up five RBIs to help complete a sweep. On the mound, Riley Eikhoff tossed another gem with seven strong innings, and Kurt Barr battled through adversity to guide his team to a key win. With conference play in full swing and postseason conversations heating up, Sunday’s action delivered statement performances from players ready to take the next step.

Kyle Kipp, RHP, Boston College – 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R/ER, 1 BB, 6 K, Win (66 pitches)
Boston College desperately needed to dispatch the visiting Pitt Panthers and clinch the series on Sunday and Kyle Kipp’s dazzling relief performance allowed the Eagles to do just that, walking off Pitt in the bottom of the 9th. The sophomore right-hander delivered his best outing of the season and posted a career-high shutout innings as Boston College rallied late behind him. Kipp entered the game in the 5th and retired the first 10 batters he faced before Ryan Zuckerman laced a double to right in the 8th. He worked around that double by striking out Caden Dulin and getting Sebastian Pisacreta to ground out to third.
In the 9th, he worked around a lead-off single by striking out pinch hitter Jackson Cooke before intentionally walking Pitt star Luke Cantwell. It was the right call as Kipp then induced an infield pop-up from Melendez to end the inning. BC would walk it off in the bottom of the 9th and Kipp earned his third win of the season. The Stamford, Connecticut native is now 3-1 on the season with a 5.32 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.
AJ Gracia, OF, Duke – 3 AB, 2 R, 2 H, 4 RBI, 2B, 2 BB
It’s been a difficult season for AJ Gracia, but he enjoyed a big day on Sunday as Duke won its second straight ACC series in a row. The two-hit effort was just his fourth multi-hit performance of the season and Gracia’s four runs driven in matched his season high. A big reason why Gracia remains in the lineup is because even though he’s struggling to get hits, he still gets on-base at a good clip as this was his eighth multi-walk game of the year. Overall, the sophomore outfielder is slashing .191/.388/.292.
Gracia led off his day with a fly out to center field in the 3rd– the only time he failed to reach base on Sunday. He walked in the 4th inning but failed to score. Then, with 2 outs in the 5th, Gracia lined a 2 run single back up the middle to extend Duke’s lead to 9-1. In the 7th, he doubled down the left field line to drive in his third run of the day and give Duke an 11-4 lead. His fourth RBI came in the 8th inning when he was walked for the second time in the game, making the score 15-4. Duke would run-rule NC State 16-6 when the very next batter was hit by a pitch.
