Midweek college baseball action saw breakout performances, clutch moments, and key players boosting their draft stock. Tennessee’s Andrew Fischer continued his power surge with another home run, while North Carolina’s Luke Stevenson further cemented himself as the top catcher in the draft class with a two-homer game. Florida’s Colby Shelton delivered in a high-profile matchup against Florida State, and Wake Forest’s Ethan Conrad kept his hot streak alive with another dominant showing at the plate. Meanwhile, WKU’s Ryan Wideman made history, hitting for the cycle in a record-setting performance, and Oklahoma’s Jaxson Willits showcased his all-around game as he continues to rise in the 2026 draft conversation. With power bats heating up and pitchers finding their groove, this week’s midweek slate proved just as impactful as the weekend matchups.
As mentioned last week, we bring back the draft value portion of our midweek article before diving into this week’s standouts.
This segment will provide readers with an early look at weekend top performers draft value, round projections, and how they fit into draft boards, as evaluations continue to shift and evolve each weekend; both behind the scenes at Prospects Live and across the baseball industry.
It also gives our readers a unique glimpse behind the curtain, offering insight into how we assess top performers week over week and how their production impacts our draft boards leading up to July.
Below are four standout performers from the weekend who have already made their mark in the 2025 draft cycle.
Spencer has quickly established himself as one of the most surprising breakouts of the early season, proving to be a hidden gem from last summer’s transfer portal. I had the chance to see him up close last spring when he was closing games for the Sycamores, and even then, it was evident that if he could fully tap into his potential, he had the makings of a dominant arm. His sophomore season at Indiana State didn’t quite measure up to his standout freshman campaign, as his fastball lacked its usual life, but the raw talent was undeniable.
This season, he’s put all doubts to rest, entering SEC play with an impressive 0.86 ERA over 21 innings while striking out 29, walking just nine, and holding opponents to a .178 batting average. His fastball has regained its zip, now sitting in the mid-90s and touching 98 mph, but it’s his refined secondary offerings that have truly elevated his profile.
